Assaulting a Policeman.

John Kenny pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawfully assaulting Police Constable Wilson, on Saturday night last, at a quarter past twelve o’clock, in Market Street. Prisoner knocked the officer down twice and kicked him severely, being very drunk at the time. His conduct in the cells was very violent. Defendant said he worked on the railway, at Meltham, and it was the first time he had indulged to excess. The magistrates fined him 10s., and 8s. expenses; in default, one month to Wakefield.
